( The mention of a hug throws Eddie off more than he cares to admit. He sort of just stands there awkwardly, wreath in hand and considering this surprise because it is a surprise. There is a shift in movement before Eddie reaches out, grasping Richie's jacket and tugging. It's a slightly awkward, one-armed hug but there is a noted sigh that issues from him and Eddie visibly relaxes as he lays his head against Richie's chest.

It's a nice moment up until the question which just has Eddie looking up, brows raising. )

Yeah, you got me– ( He says with a slight roll of his eyes. ) I was going to invite the Websters from next door and everything.

( Eddie hates the neighbors. Their dog is fine, sure but their neighbors can take a long walk off a short pier. )

[The awkward one-armed dance they do in the entranceway of his place is twice as good as any hug Richie's ever gotten and came with the jingling bells and pine-fresh scent of the wreath. It felt like Christmas, and Richie hadn't taken the time to celebrate in years.]

You guys finally call a truce? I really did miss everything. C'mon, help me get my shit inside, and then if you're a good boy you can sit on Santa's lap and tell him what you want for Christmas.

They agreed to let me have the dog every other weekend as a peace offering. ( He says it with a half smile and then a glance around Richie's shoulder to said 'shit' and nods. ) Just let me get this thing hung up on the door correctly first.

( Which, thankfully, is not a test of his patience. In fact there is little to no trouble (unlike the fucking tree itself) and Eddie has to stand back and marvel at the feature for just a moment before herding Rich inside with his things.

The sight inside probably is something of a chance from the norm. It's not like he's thrown anything out or replaced pieces but there's something to be said about everything dressed in lights and a tree taking center stage in the living room. He lingers a little behind Richie admittedly, trying to read his body language but ultimately ends up at his side instead with a soft look as his arm goes around his boyfriend's waist. )

I got what I want for Christmas. ( What a fucking sap. ) You still gonna let me sit on your lap and tell me what you think about everything though?

[That's a valid predicament that was bound to happen because as hard as it was for Richie to get attached once he was, he didn't like to share. The comfort of home warms him to his core, and the decor is even better inside, leave it to Eddie to make him feel the Christmas spirit for the first time in years. He hadn't been expecting all of it, but now he wanted more of it. Baking cookies, cuddling by the fire, and freaky Santa and elf roleplay that had nothing to do with the holiday at all just lecherous desire.]

I never miss an opportunity to have you in my lap, this just makes it more festive. Should I break out the spiked cocoa and put on Its A Wonderful Life?

I was going to sue for custody anyway on the basis that they dress him in the ugliest fucking sweaters.

( It's all said with a very serious motion of his hand like this has definitely been considered and thought about how to go about said process during his decorating kick. Still, Eddie decides its much nicer having Richie back then kidnapping the neighbor's dog and picking out more fashionable dog sweater choices for him so he presses into his side with a thoughtful hum. )
