( He both loves and hates the look of Richie lost in the feelings he causes whenever he feeds. It's so easy for the two of them to lose themselves in the moment together but if anything has become easier it is figuring just what the limit is for the both of them. That's why he only holds on for a moment more before breaking away, breathing in deep before licking at the puncture wounds left behind. )
I love you— ( He says low, breathless but utterly dopey with the overwhelming warmth he feels. ) I love you so much.
[The vampire thing is weird but they've made it work, and Eddie takes good care of Richie when he has to be the blood bag. That saliva instantly cauterizes the wound and he's always too blissed out to feel the pain of it until days afterward.
After Eddie's done, Richie meets his lips, tasting himself on his tongue for a moment before settling forward to press his lips just under his ear lobe.]
Love you too.
[There was a brief period when neither of them could say it when Eddie didn't feel quite human enough and Richie was still dealing with guilt and thought he didn't deserve to say it. Now, they didn't hold back and that felt better than anything else. That spot that was always empty in him felt full.]
The vampire thing was definitely in the category of weird and thensome. Eddie still can't say he understands all of it and he doubts he ever will but being with Richie had made it easier for him. He remembers first waking up and the panic that came from being dead and then suddenly being sorta alive again before the sick worry of if he could approach the other Losers about this.
Ultimately, it seemed, dead or alive or somewhere in between that he would always be drawn to Richie. It was something just so much stronger than either of them.
That's why he doesn't hesitate after the kiss breaks from dipping down, cutting the skin of his own wrist and drawing a small amount of blood into his mouth before tugging the other man into a heated kiss. It's a small, helpful jolt of energy for Richie they discovered rather by accident although Eddie spent a good 48 hours worried that Richie would end up like him. A thought that eats away at him some nights and some nights wonders if it would actually be that bad.
There's still something to be said about feeding his boyfriend his own blood that makes him feel near feral. A fact he doesn't hide as he licks into Richie's mouth before pulling back with another loving look.
They'd decided that's what he was, based on pop culture and a bunch of poorly timed Count Nagula jokes and banter. Richie's easily drunk on Eddie's scent, on the taste of his blood in the kiss they shared, and not once did he attribute that to things that probably made it easy for Eddie to catch prey when he needed to.
When he came home late, neither of them asked questions it was better that way. Even if Eddie preferred Richie, there was only so much blood in his system and so many blood banks that they could nab through the dark web and through the black market together. Richie didn't think it mattered, he had him back, and they were together - it was a fucking blessing if he'd ever had one.
( Although Eddie wishes that he had a real and proper name for what he was now because it definitely wasn't human there was just so little for them to go on. It was still up in the air just how this happened given the last bit of life left in him bled out in that hell cave just as the other Losers ended Pennywise and his horrible existence. Vampire, thankfully, wasn't an awful name to pin to his status as it were and he is grateful for the small amount of lore that seemed to ring true in his new undead life.
Most of the time though he tries not to think to much on it and instead focus on the goodness that came from finally creating a life with Richie. Even the nights when he has to go out, the nights when he slips out after Rich has fallen asleep and goes as far as his feet will take him before sneaking back into their home just as the first rays of dawn begin to appear on the horizon. They don't talk about it and, for that, Eddie is grateful because he doubts there will ever be a way of putting some of this into words.
Instead he focuses forward and presses a lopsided kiss to Richie's lips before he moves to stand with a grin. )
Take your time, okay? I don't need you standing up to fast again and ending up with another goose egg on your head because you fainted.
[Little to go on in the real world, and bad twilight jokes and watching What We Do in the Shadows together makes everything a little easier to handle. At least for Richie, who used joking as a "healthy," coping mechanism.
No fainting this time, and not looking to be handled with kid-gloves Richie's careful about getting up but he does so just to get a good grab of Eddie's butt.]
( We don't talk about Eddie's late night sessions watching said Twilight movies once when Richie was gone on a short tour. That had been an event but despite some similarities, he's grateful for the lack of sparkles and ridiculous hair. Still there has been a lot of jokes lately because (and let's be real) its the one thing keeping him, aside from Richie himself, going sometimes when everything else seems so out of control.
He slips away to the bathroom to clean his face of any leftover traces before returning, hauling their bags up onto the bed and digging through them for whatever swimwear that they might have packed away for this trip. It's just in time for Richie's hand to catch his backside, turning with a raise of his brows before laughing. )
Oh, yeah, no doubt about it. You take care of me, you know? No one else can do for me what you do.
[No one else was right, they still hadn't told anyone, and Richie's tendency to worry meant that he had no plans for telling the rest of the club any time soon. He'd take the secret to the grave with him so long as it meant getting to spend time with Eddie, getting him back after what they went through.
Richie's hasty, and somewhat jittery about slipping into his swim trunks. They were sneaking in after hours, but that wouldn't be hard to do with his credentials. They've been breaking and entering since they were kids, and Richie was famous so he got the pass.] You ready hot stuff?
( He keeps close, smiling dopey-like up at Richie like he was the very sun in Eddie's life which isn't far off. One day, he thinks, they should maybe reach out to the others but for now he was comfortable with his world revolving around Richie— just as it had when they were kids.
Before he has a chance to answer, a buzzing sound vibrates from Eddie's luggage and he slips away to make a grab for it. It's not his normal phone rather their burner phone (or one of it) for their dark web dealings. )
Oh, hey, this is that one guy with the hospital. ( He says leaning in and pressing a kiss to Richie's lips. Eddie lets it linger, smiling as they pull away and bringing the phone up. ) Why don't you go ahead and I'll catch up in a little bit, okay?
[Richie wouldn't deny Eddie if he wanted to reach out to the other losers. His problem with them wasn't something he'd ever put onto Eddie's shoulders and couldn't talk to him about. It got bad, darkest hour type bad and he tried not to revisit that place.
He liked focusing on the present, on Eddie's easy smile, and the look in his eyes deep brown eyes when they kissed. He'd do anything for him. Anything.]
Sure. I'll get the jets started for you.
[These hospital transport guys were real boner-killers, always calling at the worst times or keeping the worst possible schedules.] Maybe try to sneak a few beers out to the tub too.
Thanks, Rich. It shouldn't take long. ( He leans in for another kiss and lets it linger before he pulls back with a smile. ) Sounds like a plan, see you in a bit.
( Eddie watches Richie leave, smiling fondly before moving to call their contact and make plans for when they got back home. It's not his favorite thing, honestly but it keeps him from having to rely so heavily on Richie or worse— risking Richie's life because he lost control.
Thankfully the call doesn't take long and he's on his way down to the ground floor within ten minutes. He feels like a teen, sneaking around but thankfully it looked like the night crew really didn't care too much about stalking the halls and reaching the pool area is easier than thought.
Stepping out into the cool air, he glances around for workers before turning his focus on trying to find Richie. )
[It always makes Richie uncomfortable, just letting Eddie handle those things on his own. Realistically, e knew that Eddie was stronger, faster, and more capable than some triage reject running the bus and willing to make bank off of bags but it didn't feel right and on his way to the jacuzzi he took his time, hoping Eddie would be back in time to step in with him.
He wasn't.
True to his word, he's sitting in the hot tub with the jets running just like he promised. His glasses are hanging off of the fence line, and so he can't see as clearly not that he'd be able to with them fogged up from the heat and foam.]
Finally. Thought you were gonna let me turn into a raisin.
( Honestly its something of a change from his youth and adulthood where he craved freedom. Not that Richie kept him caged but his protectiveness was more comforting than suffocating as it had been with his mother and then with Myra. He's stronger, faster and could handle himself, yeah— but he relied on Richie too. They fit together like puzzle pieces and they were better together than apart.
Finding Rich already settled in the hot tub, Eddie can't help sighing but pulling his shirt off and moving to join him in the warm waters. It was always a pleasant surprise due to just how cold he was most of the time but times like these it is easy to warm up between Richie's blood rushing through him and his own feelings egging him on. )
Mmm. We can't have that, huh?
( He says reaching into the water, grasping one of Richie's hands and bringing it up to his own face. He chuckles lightly, a glance to Richie's already somewhat pruney fingers before kissing the pad of his thumb and bringing the digit into his mouth with a gentle suck. )
You'd still look amazing though. ( It's said with another chuckle around the thumb in his mouth. )
[The water soothes any aches and pains that being on stage had given him. Sometimes he feels a little jealous of Eddie's condition, and then he remembers he's responsible for it and the feeling dissipates as quickly as it comes on. The elation of being his personal blood bag is a natural aphrodisiac and pain-killer. The euphoria helps, and even though he worries it all stems from guilt and an attachment that verged on co-dependence now.]
Maybe you just have an old guy fetish I don't know about.
[It's a bad joke, one that dies on his lips the moment Eddie sucks on his thumb. God, Eddie knew how to play him like a symphony, and he staggers out a wonton breath feeling made and unbothered despite the wait and the sweat that had collected at the top of his hairline.]
( He huffs with a shake of his head but nevertheless still smiling. Still its not hard for Eddie to wonder just what the future might mean for them because what happens if he does stop aging? What happens if one day Eddie wakes up and Richie isn't there any there because time has taken its toll. He imagines that, much like Richie, although there is a real true love here between them— the co-dependency is unmistakable and Eddie knows there wouldn't be a life for him if Rich wasn't there with him.
Breathing in through his nose, Eddie lets one of his sharp fangs graze Richie's thumb and lets the faintest taste of blood blossom on his tastebuds. )
Hey, Rich. Do you ever think that maybe— ( He starts carefully with a careful lick to the small cut he has made. ) Do you ever think about the future? About what it might mean if you could be like me?

don't mind the prose, I'm on mobile and lazy
